lauren and jeff - saddlerock ranch, malibu

when jesi haack first sent this client my way, my gut reaction was to turn it down...i had already booked a large wedding for the 4th of july and i wasn't sure i wanted to take on another event on a holiday...but when jesi described the color scheme and elements of the day, i COULD NOT resist! then after meeting the bride, lauren, i knew i HAD to be involved in such a sweet, whimsical wedding with just about the most easy-going, adorable bride ever!

the basic vibe of the day was WHIMSY! lots of color, lots of texture, lots of fun!

lace, pom pom trim, floral patterns, pinwheels, paper airplanes, kites, fabric flowers, birdhouses, ruffles and balloons, OH MY!

i made all the boutonnieres out of velvet leaves and flowers, wrapped in crochet lace...

the bridesmaids all wore their own unique dresses, in varying shades of blue...to make it even more eclectic, i designed each bridesmaids bouquet using different combinations of our theme flowers and wrapping each girl's bouquet in unique laces and trims...i love that even though they were all different, they all still flowed with each other...

lauren later told me that at different points of the day, each girl secretly came over to lauren and said "my bouquet is the best one"...SO CUTE!

the bridal bouquet in dreamy pastels and finished in lace and pom pom trim...peonies, dusty miller, billy balls, parrot tulips and astilbe...

how amazing is this betsey johnson bridesmaid dress?!!? paired with the pastel colors of her bouquet it seriously make me hungry...it all looks like DESSERT! :)

the super cute stationary set designed by the girls at posh paperie! loving the kites...

don't blink for the next couple pictures...there is so much eye candy that jesi designed you won't wanna miss a thing!

the ceremony aisle was lined with paper pinwheels that jesi hand crafted and that we adorned with random laces, ruffles and pom pom trims...

the ceremony structure looked UNREAL with all of jesi's paper flowers, kites and pinwheels...it was unreal!

rather than traditional placecards, jesi dreamed up colorful paper airplanes attached to lines of string...

and in lieu of a guestbook, guests were asked to sign strips of raw-edged fabric which was then attached to the tail of a 3' tall fabric kite!

i adored the floral patterned aisle runner jesi chose...

and the fact that she sneakily passed out noisemakers and party favors to the bridal party to celebrate the couple's first kiss!! so fun!

for the dining tables, we chose a white windowpane linen paired with white chiavari chairs...jesi sourced a bunch of birdhouses, some of which were left white or brown and some of which she painted yellow or seafoam green...we accented them with 6 unique vases, all of which had some sort of lace or trim, and were filled with yellow, blush, gray and cream theme flowers...

jesi also scoured every tj maxx in site to drum up mismatched patterened napkins for each place setting...

i hate to keep rambling on about jesi's fabulousness but she REALLY outdid herself on this one! her team created this amazing balloon arch to display behind the dessert table...we dotted the tablescape with small, airy arrangements of baby's breath...and of course melody from sweet and saucy shop did her mandatory array of deliciousness and prettiness :)

i LOVED the pinwheels jesi added to the cake!

congrats to lauren and jeff!!!

jodie and nathan - arroyo trabuco golf club

when jodie and nathan came to me for design they knew what they wanted - something fairly rustic to fit the style of the venue but at the same time they wanted it to feel elegant, chic and classic...

so to keep with the rustic vibe we used khaki woven linens and dark brown wood chairs, along with gray reindeer moss, balsa wood flowers, scabiosa pods, succulents and crochet ribbons/laces...

but by arranging the flowers in silver urns and julep cups, adding in mercury glass candlesticks and tailoring the florals into fluffy white masses, we were able to ensure that the wedding had a classic and elegant feel to it as well...

overall, i thought the wedding came out completely lovely...and so did the clients! in fact, when jodie first saw the ceremony site she totally welled up with tears and started fanning her face to draw them back in...it was such a priceless moment and reminds me why i love what i do!

boutonnieres made of balsa wood flowers, scabiosa pods, silver brunia berries and gray dusty miller leaves...all finished in rustic twine...

jodie's bouquet of creamy balsa wood flowers, white rancunulas, ivory double tulips and white peonies...

i can only think of one word for these guys - DAPPER!! or maybe DASHING! okay that's two words..so sue me...

this was by far the most stylish ring bearer i have ever laid eyes on...seersucker pants, a scull + crossbones tie, navy blazer, jack purcell sneakers and quite a hip haircut!

so we couldn't just give him an ordinary ring bearer pillow...instead he carried a brown wood box filled with cream balsa wood flowers and a cluster of yellow billy balls...

this bad boy took us half a day to complete but it was worth it! we made this "chandelier" completely out of crochet laces, ruffled trims and empty glass mason jars...it looked so rad hanging above the couple as they exchanged their vows during the ceremony!

cute little "yay" flags for the guests to wave as the couple recessed back down the aisle...

for the flower girl, we gave her a single white peony to carry and we also added a ruffly white peony bloom to a headband for her to wear...i am SO sick of floral "halos" or head wreaths - why not try this idea instead! it's SO easy! all you need is a headband, hot glue and some floral blooms...get creative!

nothing is more beautiful than a beaming couple in love...

see...i told ya...DAPPER :)

for the placecard display we used a 6' long brown wood tray that we wrapped in twine and filled with gray reindeer moss, ivory balsa wood flowers, gray succulents and yellow billy balls...

centerpieces were white hydrangea, gray dusty miller foliage, yellow billy balls, white lisianthus, cream colored tulips and gray succulents, all arranged in silver urns and julep cups...we then accented each table with mercury glass candlesticks...

the brides last name...

the grooms last name...

i LOVE this photo because of the way that the light shows the amazing pattern and texture of the fabric we used to drape the ceremony structure...

oh yeah and the bride and groom look stunning!

we added a little family heirloom to jodie's bouquet to serve as her "something blue"...

jesi brought in these awesome wood/burlap/lace panels to serve as the cake backdrop and i provided the custom cake base and ruffled trims to wrap around the bottom tier...we accented the cake with one clustering of balsa wood flowers and then added florals and candles to the table for added impact...

this was SUCH an awesome idea - jesi brought in a magnetic board and had guests use magnets to write a message to jodie and nathan...so much more fun than a standard guest book! there were some interesting notes...just see for yourself ;)

i just adored these clients...congrats jodie and nathan!!!! xoxo
